An alternative power electric system is made up of a number of components, the most important of all being the batteries. Batteries store the power generated by your solar, wind or hydro systems, and make it available either as direct DC to your loads, or as AC power via a DC to AC power inverter or inverter/charger. In order to get the best possible life out of your batteries, you must look after them correctly by having sufficient charging, regulation, and regular maintenance.
